Engagement example

The brief The invitation

Different functions. One shared leadership language.

A British Army group invited Inspired to deliver a series of virtual sessions on Transforming Team Communication. The goal was to help combat, medical and aviation teams establish a shared leadership language across functions.

In practice What we observed

More voices contributing to the same discussion.

During the work, we observed existing internal meeting frameworks functioning more effectively. More voices spoke up within teams and across functions, bringing different perspectives into the discussion.

What we did

The virtual sessions focused on communication across professional boundaries: understanding different perspectives, making room for more voices and using a common leadership language within the group's existing meeting frameworks.

  1. Give different functions a shared language

The sessions brought a common way to discuss leadership and team communication to people working in combat, medical and aviation roles.

  2. Bring more voices into the meeting

The focus was on helping people contribute across functions and use the meeting frameworks already in place more effectively.

Applying this to your team

Start by agreeing the behaviour you want to change, the situations in which it matters and how you will review progress. We can use examples from your current work to shape the engagement and establish a useful starting point.
